In 1881 twenty-one year old Kintaro Hattori opened a clock shop in Tokyo's fabled Ginza district and laid the foundation for modern clock and watch making in Japan. This store is the direct ancestor of today's Seiko Corporation, one of the world's largest watch and clock companies.
